Join the GOBCC on Thursday, December 5th for our annual Pre-Kwanzaa celebration taking place from 6pm -8pm at the GOBCC. Kwanzaa, an African American holiday based on the first fruit celebrations of Africa, was created by Dr. Maulana Karenga to introduce and reinforce seven basic values of African culture: Unity, Self-determination, Collective Work and Responsibility, Cooperative Economics, Purpose, Creativity, and Faith. The holiday is officially celebrated December 26 to January 1. Join us as the GOBCC staff participates in a candle-lighting ceremony while discussing the history of the 7 basic values of Kwanzaa. Free food and refreshments will also be served on a first come first serve basis. This event is free and open to the public.
