Fall Fest 2014

Fall Fest 2014 is an annual event hosted by the Gaines/Oldham Black Culture Center introducing incoming students of color to student organizations, faculty/staff, University departments, and Columbia businesses.  This event attracts more than 1,000 new and returning students from the Mizzou community. Fall Fest features performances by the National Pan Hellenic Council (NPHC) Greek Organizations, tables about various organizations and departments, and local Columbia businesses such as barbershops, hair salons, and churches.

This is an excellent opportunity to show the campus community what your organization, department or business is about, advertise your services, and recruit new members/customers.

2014 Food Drive Challenge Results

Food Drive Challenge Winners!

We would like to thank everyone who made a contribution to the 2014 “Food Drive Challenge” hosted by the Gaines/Oldham Black Culture Center & Tiger Pantry.  In total we collected over 1,700 food items to donate, which by far exceeded our expectations.  The items collected will be used to feed Mizzou students and faculty/staff.   Due to the success of the food drive, the GOBCC will do it again next year!

Life Music Series w/ Alicia Reve

Be sure to join us in The Shack for the first Life Music Series event of the spring semester for live music, free food and good fun. This event will feature live music from Mizzou Alum and songstress, Alicia Revé, as well as several talented Mizzou student artists. Doors open at 6:30pm and the show starts at 7:00pm. Black Women Rock! 2014

Join us for Black Women Rock! 2014: Pink Carpet Affair. Black Women Rock! models after “Black Girls Rock!” which originally aired on BET.  The goal of this event is to recognize the outstanding efforts and accomplishments of Black women at the University of Missouri and the Columbia area.  This year the event will feature a special recognition of Commissioner Mary E. Nelson. BWR! 2014 will be held March 8, 2014 at Conservation Auditorium located on the University Campus. Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. The ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
